Featured Vendor - RBK Creations - Wedding Bouquets

When I got married I loved my bouquet but I never preserved it.  I look back at pictures and to this day I wish I would have done something with it.  When I saw Button Bouquets I was so excited and really wish it was available for my wedding (of course that was 10+ years ago). 

I know when planning your wedding it’s hard to think about what will happen to the bouquet after the wedding.  Why not consider a Button Bouquet?  A Button Bouquet will last forever, it’s unique and it can be given as a gift to your bridesmaids and/or family.  

Today I’m so excited to share with you RBK Creations. I met Ariela at a North Dallas Etsy Team meeting and we hit it off right from the start.  I love her designs and all the unique things she and her mother do with them. Most of all I love the different colors they use. 

I’ve asked Ariela to share a little about their company, what inspires them and how the process works.

How did you get started?  
RBK Creations was started in August 2008 by Ariela and Brenda (a mother and daughter team from the North Dallas Area).   We launched our first set of bridal button bouquets in January 2009. We have worked with over 150 brides all over the world. Over the past year we introduced felt button bouquets, satin button bouquets and organza button bouquets.

Are all the bouquets custom?  
While we have some bouquets ready to purchase, we prefer custom orders. This allows us to make the perfect arrangement for their big day!

What is the process for ordering a bouquet?  
The first steps are picking the colors. We love to get fabric samples or even links to pictures online. Then we need to know the quantity of bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, centerpieces and anything else you have in mind. Throughout the whole process, we send pictures to keep you updated. This also helps to make sure we are on the same path as the bride.  We set up a whole set of pictures on flickr just for each bride. This way they can view all photos easily and then send the link to any friends and family.

After everything is created (time varies on the size of the order) we send the final pictures for approval and the bouquets will be shipped. We suggest ordering as early as possible because we do book quickly.

We look forward to working with you! We have always been the artsy type and always have a project going on! It is so great to have this business where we get to be creative everyday! Truly a dream come true!

Balancing, Adjusting and Arranging #2

Happy July 1st!  Can you believe half of 2009 is already over? Today I'm updating you on how my adjusting and arranging is going.

I have two very large and beautiful magnolia tress in my front yard.  When the builder planted them I never imagined that 9 years later they would be so large and gorgeous.  I love our magnolias!  Last week as I pulled into the driveway I noticed one of the blooms had turned into this amazing flower.  Instead of getting the mail and heading to the kitchen to start dinner I rushed into the house and grabbed the camera.

I'm sure you'll be seeing some products inspired by these beautiful flowers so come back soon!

My Island Wedding is holding their second Inspiration Board Contest. I thought this was a good opportunity for me to do my first inspiration board.  I fell in love with the cupcakes in this board and the inspiration grew from there. Balance, Adjusting and Arranging

Lately I’ve read many posts on “balancing.  So I ask myself "Exactly what is balance?"
One definition is: “To arrange, adjust, or proportion the parts symmetrically.”

As artist and designer, I find symmetry boring, but once I looked past that part, I saw “arrange and adjust.

I do not have a balanced life. My days are filled with my business – management, marketing, preparing for summer shows, paying bills, painting plates and putting out everyday fires. I often forget to relax and enjoy the moment and get inspired.

After much thought, I decided to label it as “balance” but to arrange my days and adjust my schedule to allow time to look around and really see…to observe…to enjoy.  

First on my list was to schedule time to read blogs that I enjoy and look what I found……

On the Santa Barbara Wedding Chic Blog  I found these amazing photos. Colors inspire me and these totally popped off the page. Can you believe they are created with chalk?

Wedding Inspiration - The Color Orange

Orange has always been a great fall color but these days it can be used any time of year. It makes a bold statement and adds and elegant touch to any event.

Below I want to share with you some unique ideas I found using this amazing color.

 

1. I found these silk flowers while surfing Etsy (I love Etsy). Jdleggans Etsy Shop offers the most beautiful wedding bouquets.  Not only are they gorgeous but they are budget conscious because they last forever. No need to preserve them (I really wish I would have preserved my wedding flowers but it was so expensive).
2. Wedding cake bling!  I have been admiring Sari's work for years. I really wish these were around 10 years ago when I got married. Visit Toppers with Glitz and see all the amazing monogram designs and much more. Use them as an ornament or frame them after the wedding.
3. I met Marni (The CardboxDiva) while tweeting away on Twitter. Creative Custom Cardboxes will "protect your gifts in style". Many colors and options to select from. Make sure to visit her blog too!
4. This cake found on The Knot. Simple, elegant, timeless - perfect for the retro or contemporary wedding.
5. A special and unique bridesmaid gift. These fused glass pendants just jump out at me!  Available at Atlantis Designs on Etsy.
